The Beginning of this story:
This documentary has been in the making for over three years. It's truly a remarkable story of what happens when two people from different worlds come together to help humanity.
Frank met Sandra Murray when she was helping the homeless in 2004. She began filming her documentary to help Mayor Hickenlooper with his Ten Year Plan to end homelessness. Her creative group found a 5100 sq. ft house in Denver and seven homeless men from the shelters moved in to renovate the house, restore their spirits and develop a creative plan to help other homeless people. The Project was called E-Street, a Documentary Project on Changing Lives. Frank was one of the seven homeless men.
Sandra Murray had been the Product Placement Coordinator for The Laramie Project, an HBO Special filmed in Denver, the Facility Coordinator for The Colorado Film School and is currently the owner of Contagious Media, therefore, she used her talents and connections to acquire many donations of products and services needed at the house. As one of the guys in the house said "It's like Christmas in July," after truckloads of new beds from Simmons Mattress Company, new beddings from Bed Bath and Beyond, paint from Guiry's, water from Eldorado Water, plants from City Floral, dairy products from Robinson Dairy - and more were delivered to the house as in-kind donations. The production crew filmed how the community came together to help.
The Middle of this story:
Frank’s Fight.
Never Give Up. No Matter What.
On June 4th, 2004, Frank went on a check up at Denver Health (after being hit by a bus in February), and was immediately hospitalized. He was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (bone marrow cancer) and kidney failure. This was a turning point for Sandra as she knew this man's honorable character, what he had been through, losing his wife, losing his home and now his health. She stood by his side, documented his fears, his challenges, his chemo sessions, his dialysis and even his joys.
After six months, the E-Street program changed and Frank had nowhere to go. Because of Sandra’s upbringing, a daughter of parents who had served in World War II and a high school graduate in Jackson, Mississippi, she invited him to move into her basement. Her Dad taught her, “a stranger is a friend you never met.”

They know that their meeting was no accident and have been on a mission to inspire others through their faith. They have documented the many friendships, challenges and joys along the way of this unique, life-affirming journey. |
